About
Who is Mak anyways?
My name is Makayla I am the owner and and sole creator behind Mak Stitched LLC.

Growing up I was always doing some kind of craft, bracelet making, doodling, making melted bead coasters, knitting, cross stitch, crochet, ive dabbled in it all. In high school I even got my first sewing machine, I wanted to be a fashion designer. Unfortunately, this was not something I pursued, it always felt very out of reach coming from a small town girl who ended up being more interested in what was new at Hollister and Pac Sun. But, I held onto that sewing machine.
In 2023 I found out I was pregnant with my daughter Jacie, I just knew I wanted her to have handmade things she could hold onto and know how loved she is! So, I decided to pick up crocheting again, I went to you tube to get a refresher course, and ended up making a blanket, hat, a couple sweaters/onesies and then a couple snugglers. This was the first time I thought to myself, I think I could actually do somethin more with this. After Jacie was born my free time became more and more limited for obvious reasons. But I needed that creative outlet! I saw a reel about "how easy" patchwork quilting is, and being the impulsive person I am I immediately ordered a couple charm packs (precut 5" squares) and decided to make a quilt for Jacie. I loved it! Making things with my own to hands and bringing ideas to life was not only relaxing but so rewarding! From there I made a couple more quilts and tried my hand at a boxy bag I saw a tutorial for on you tube, and the rest is historyy.

My first quilt and first completed sewing project!
Most of my work is done during my daughters nap time or after she goes to bed, one day I hope to employ her as my professional lint roller and thread cutter, but for the time being she is my certified sewing room disorganizer. I love the creative process so much that I've learned to balance mother hood, a healthy active lifestyle, and running a handmade business while I continue my 9-5 job!
In a world full of fast fashion and use it once and it falls apart products I want to make something with more meaning. I want to make things that people truly love! Things that are made to last!

If you were to take a look into my sewing room, you may ask is this a closet or a craft room, and yea, its both, lol. I currently am working out of a spare room in my house that we originally were using for our closet and now has been "transformed" into my sewing studio. I am working with a household Brother sewing machine which will hopefully be upgraded in 2026 to expedite my process! I share my studio with the occasional visit from one or both of my house hippos, Dale and Leroy a chocolate and black lab

The humble sewing space.
